May 2011

May 25th Nordic Culture Point published a presentation at their website about our collaboration with the Norwegian composer and our concert trip to Trondheim as one of their showcases.

May 16th The concerts in Helsinki and Hamina are done and thus we have finished the last concerts for spring 2011. After the session we were wondering if contemporary classical music is easily approachable for the audience. According to the comments we got from the audience, the Djupal songs were interesting and a positive suprise to the listeners.

May 10th Concert at the Wäinö Aaltonen museum in Turku in the middle of the Water - Sense and Sensation exhibit. We had also the sea themed song cycle Själ ooch landskap - Soul and landscape by the Swedish composert Gösta Nystroem in the program. Thank you for the lovely audience!

May 9th Preparing for the concert in Turku, Finland. We visited Tuuli´s mentor the pianist Elzbieta Guzek-Soini and worked with her on some Sibelius songs. This wonderful artist gave us new energy and new thoughts with her deep way of thinking and intensity.

April 2011

April 30th Concert at Trondheim Artmuseum Gråmolna, in Norway. The Norwegian-Finnish listeners in the audience enjoyed the especially the Finnish folksong arrangements and the wonderful pie recipe songs by Ilkka Kuusisto. We performed Lemminkäinen flees by Djupdal now for the first time. It is the fastest in tempo of the Kalevala song cycle and demands a virtuosic approach from the pianist. The piece went well and the composer was pleased with the premier.

April 24th Reheasal period in Oslo. Tomorrow we meet with pianist Ivar Anton Waagaard and work on the song cycle Tre lyriske bilder by the norwegian composer Øisten Sommerfeldt. Waagaard has recorded most of Sommerfeldt songs and we hope to get some insights on the songs.

March 2011

We are preparing a new song by Karstein Djupdal. Lemminkäinen flees will get its premier in Norway Trondheim on the 30th on April. We commisioned a song cycle from a Norwegian composer, who was inspired by the Finnish national epos Kalevala.
